🎮 What Is Dama Game?

Dama Game is a two-player strategy board game played on a board with 64 squares. Each player starts with 16 playing pieces placed on opposite sides of the board. The objective is to capture your opponent’s pieces through strategic movement while protecting your own pieces from being captured.

Unlike games that rely mainly on luck, every move in Dama Game requires careful planning. Therefore, players must think several moves ahead, anticipate their opponent’s strategy, and make the best possible decisions throughout the match.

The goal of Dama Game is to eliminate all of your opponent’s pieces before they eliminate yours. Players can also win if their opponent resigns or is unable to continue the game according to the official rules.

♟️ How to Play Dama Game

The player using the light-colored pieces always makes the first move. Each regular piece moves one square at a time either forward, to the right, or to the left. However, regular pieces cannot move backward or diagonally during normal play.

Players must also move only to empty squares, and they cannot jump over their own pieces. Once a player touches a piece to make a move, that move must be completed according to the rules of the game.

⚔️ Capturing Rules

Capturing is mandatory whenever a legal capture is available. Furthermore, if more than one capture option exists, the player must choose the move that captures the greatest number of the opponent’s pieces.

A regular piece captures by jumping over an adjacent opponent’s piece into the empty square immediately behind it. However, the capture is only valid when exactly one empty square is available behind the opponent’s piece.

👑 Becoming a King

When a regular piece reaches the last row on the opponent’s side of the board, it is promoted to a King. From the next turn onward, the King can move and capture in every direction, giving the player much greater tactical flexibility during the game.

Although the promotion happens immediately after reaching the final row, the newly promoted King begins using its full movement abilities starting from the following turn.
